Early discharge of the semen before reaching the peak of orgasm is known as premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a common but distinct medical condition that can severely impact quality of life, affecting the physical and emotional well being of patient and his partner.

In large surveys, premature ejaculation is a most frequent form of male sexual dysfunction, affecting up to 30% of men. It is most common in young males but can strike at any time of life. Most men with premature ejaculation are perfectly healthy; others may have medical condition like diabetes or urological problems such as prostatitis. With or without an associated problem, premature ejaculation can be treated.
